The Diary of a Young Girl-Anne Frank-Sunday-February 27-1944-onwards
We come to know in the
beginning of this diary entry that Peter’s impact is becoming stronger in
Anne’s mind day by day. His image haunts her mind every time, while waking up
or going to bed for sleep. The previous night, she slept with Peter’s image in his
mind and also woke up with the same image. She feels that both of them suffer
from the same type of void in their hearts. She means to say that neither she
nor did Peter receive proper love and care from their mothers. Peter’s mother
is too much superficial (not serious/ shallow) and likes to flirt with people.
Anne’s mother takes active interest in her but she lacks in tactfulness,
sensitivity and motherly understanding.
Both Peter and Anne are
too sensitive to be dealt with so roughly. Whenever this happens with Anne, she
vents out her anger in several other ways. Peter does it differently. He shuts
himself in, sits quietly and does daydreaming to hide his true self.
Monday, February, 1944
Anne feels the pangs of
separation with Peter and yearns for his company. She feels his presence every
time with her, yet he is not physically there with her. Peter Schiff and Peter
van Daan have merged into each other. She feels Peter Schiff reflected in Peter
van Daan, she longs for him desperately.
Wednesday, March, 1944
In this diary entry, Anne
writes about a burglary in the warehouse. The thief must have used a duplicate
key. Peter reported that the projector and Mr. Kugler’s new brief-case had been
missing from his office. Mr. van Daan also had also noticed the previous night
a terrible mess in the front office.
They reached the
conclusion that the burglar must have sneaked (entered secretly) in Earlier in
the evening, shut the door quietly waited hiding at somewhere there
