A Regional Novel
In a #regionalnovel, the novelist focuses on the people of a certain area, their habits, language, and dialect. We find #Wessex, a local place in #Thomas #Hardy’s novels. We may also call #GeorgeEliot a regional novelist to some extent. We find English Midlands, particularly the places of Warwickshire and Lincolnshire as the setting in most of her novels. Some Indian novelists also use local areas as a setting in their novels. We can quote examples of #RKNarayana and #RajaRao. #Narayana has used the area of Malgudi and Raja Rao has used the area of #Kanthapura for the setting of his novels. Both of these two places are imaginary ones but they describe the realities of the local areas in the South of India.
