Ans. Bade Khan is the policeman sent to the village
Kanthapura by the British Govt. He has been sent there to keep an eye on
Moorthy’s activities of spreading the Gandhian Movement in Kanthapura. He collects
the information and sends it to the British Govt.

Ans. Kanthapura is divided in caste groups. The people
here do not get mixed up with the people of other castes. Bade Khan was a
Muslim by caste. So no one in the village Kanthapura is ready to give him a
